About
Much more than a brand, DHEUST aims to blend streetwear with cultural modernism. It is a statement of its founder Mo’ intersectional worlds both as a deaf designer and an artist. The brand reflects Mo’ thirst to continually explore the layers beyond everything his hands can do while staying true to the roots that helped craft his journey from Dakar to Portland.
Growing up in Dakar, Mo’ became accustomed to the city’s rich melting pot of colors and its potpourri of traditional garments. As a young and curious 8 years old, he often spent his afternoons meandering around the small tailor shops located on the first floor of his late nana home. From there, he admired artisans at work, sewing and tailoring traditional African dresses using a plethora of threads and fabrics.
Later, when Mo’ moved to Portland during his youth, he went on to pursue architecture. His studio projects often reminiscent of his childhood memories, helped him find a voice through his craft, and over the years, that passion for making and the visual arts pushed him to learn how to sew, alter, and work with materials he loves. From there DHEUST was born.
DHEUST as a brand has one sole purpose and it is to break barriers and go beyond the boundaries that exist within its founder wide world where, every product is rare with its own unique story that reflects the many bridges Mo’ crossed as a kid raised 10,000 Miles across the Atlantic..
